Donna Moir has waited for this day for 10 years. But it finally arrived and Sacred Heart’s basketball team is headed back to the Sweet 16 for the first time since winning three straight state titles from 2002-04.
Sacred Heart knocked off Ballard 46-39 in the Seventh Region Tournament’s championship game Saturday night at Valley, avenging a 58-56 regular-season loss to the Bruins on Jan. 16.
“Ten years, it has been 10 years since I have been back,” Moir said. “I’ve had a lot of good teams and a lot of adversity. We just came out and played tonight. We didn’t play our best, but we played well enough to win.”
In a game that featured 11 lead changes and five ties, there were some dramatic moments before Sacred Heart seniors DaiJia Ruffin
