Barnabas, Assumption alum to provide in-depth coverage

When it comes to cheerleading and dance in Louisville, Laura Ogburn has seen it all.

Ogburn, who grew up in the Louisville Catholic community, attended Saint Barnabas Elementary School and is still an active member of the parish. Growing up, Ogburn won several national titles while cheering competitively and practicing at Gym Tyme All-Stars. Following her days with the Bucaneers, Ogburn attended Assumption High School, where she split her cheer duties acting as a member of both the Rockets and the St. Xavier High School squads.

Having cheered since the age of 10, Ogburn decided to turn her passion into a career. Today, Ogburn works for JAM Brands, Inc. - a cheer and dance event producing company that holds over 200 competitions around the U.S., where teams compete on the regional and national level. She has also returned to St. X to take over the squad as head cheerleading coach.

"Cheerleading has always been an integral part of my life, and still is today," said Ogburn. "And I'm extremely excited to contribute my knowledge and experience to this new endeavor with LouisvilleCatholicSports.com."

For LCS, Ogburn will serve as the site's cheer and dance correspondent, providing recaps of events, profiles on athletes, and previews of regional and national competitions. Down the road, Ogburn will also provide national rankings polls of the country's top high school and collegiate squads.
