Bellarmine women's soccer player earns 2nd Team honors

Bellarmine University women's soccer player Abby Schuhmann was named to the Daktronics 2nd Team All-America on Wednesday afternoon.

The award is one in a long list of post season awards the junior has received as she was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, as well as 1st team All-GLVC and 1st team All-Midwest Region. Daktronics also released their all region selections as Schuhmann was named to the 1st Team All-Region.

The catalyst for a defense that recorded nine shutouts for the Knights, Schuhmann also added a touch of offense this season as she had one goal and one assist on the season.

Schuhmann has gained the reputation as one of the top defenders in the region as last year she was named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and GLVC Defensive Player of the Year.

Daktronic's 1st Team All-America was highlighted by five players from No. 1 College of St. Rose and West Florida's Shakira Duncan who was named National Player of the Year..
