Catholic Teams Dominate Coaches Poll

Mercy leads KVCA volleyball preseason rankings

At first glance, it could be assumed that the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll for girls volleyball teams is a brochure for the Archdiocese of Louisville. The entire top five of the list and seven of the overall top ten teams are Catholic, including Louisville's tremendous trio - Mercy Academy, Sacred Heart Academy, and Assumption High School - who are ranked No. 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

The Jaguars of Mercy are the KHSAA defending state champions,  and early indications are that this experienced squad wants a return trip to the state title match. In its first four matches of the young 2010 season Mercy is 4-0 (only losing one game), including victories over St. Henry, Christian Academy, Presentation, and Male.
