"20 Key Questions" With Emma Brink
Sacred Heart runner, future Tar Heel takes on the "Questions"
Each week, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 key questions - some in-depth, some lighthearted - that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses. Below are the "20 Key Questions," brought to you by Key Financial Mortgage LLC.
What hasn't Emma Brink accomplished at the high school level for running? The Sacred Heart Academy senior cross country star and track and field middle distance/distance athlete has a resume as long as the number of miles she's run over the past four years with the Valkyries.
To name a few, Brink is a nine-time individual state champion (which includes three consecutive cross country titles and six track titles), owns one team state cross country title (2009), holds three state records in cross country (1600m and 800m), is a two-time Gatorade Kentucky Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year, a two-time Gatorade Kentucky Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, two-time KHSAA Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year (Miss Track and Field), two-time KHSAA Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year (Miss Cross Country), has been named a Nike All-American, and is currently ranked 19th in the nation by NationalMilesplit.com.
Not too shabby.
Earlier this week, Brink added another accomplishment to the list when she announced that she will attend the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill next year. Heralded as one of the best runners in the history of Kentucky state competition, there is no doubt that Brink will continue to excel during the remainder of this year, in college, and beyond.
