Mercy's Crable Named Nation's Top Frosh
ESPN Rise honors Jags volleyball freshman
Outside hitter Courtney Crable of Mercy Academy not only has started from day one, but she also led her team with 493 kills. a .370 hitting percentage and 47 aces. Mercy finished its season as the state runner-up and No. 12 in the POWERADE FAB 50 ESPN RISE National Rankings.
Coach Todd Garvey has nothing but good things to say about the budding freshman.
“Courtney was our No. 1 outside hitter," he said. "She is extremely athletic and quick for her size and continues to improve every day. She also has a great work ethic and has a chance to be a very special player.
“The bigger the game, the better she usually played, which is what impressed me. For a freshman not to feel pressure and rise to the occasion was special.”
Courtney helped lead the Jags to a 35-6 record this, which included a loss in the state championship game to POWERADE FAB 50 No. 6 Assumption in a very competitive game. Mercy also won the Berkeley Premier Tournament in Tampa, Fla.
