Saints' spot in poll is highest ever for women's basketball

The Thomas More College women's basketball has been voted the number one team in the nation according to this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 poll.

The Saints received 15 out of a possible 25 first place votes and a total 598 points in the poll. The new ranking is the first time in Thomas More history that any athletic team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The undefeated Saints (17-0 overall, 9-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference) are off to their best start since the 2007-2008 campaign when they started 29-0.  Thomas More is averaging 67.2 points per game, while holding their opponents to 50.9 ppg.  Thomas More is using a balanced attack this season as nine players average double-digit minutes played per game with no player averaging more than 26.2 minutes per game.

Only two Saints are averaging double-digit scoring as sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver averages 14.4 ppg., and senior center Nicole Dickman (Park HIlls, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) is averaging 13.6 ppg.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Chatham University at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.  The first 200 fans to enter the game will receive a free shirt that commemorates the team's new No. 1 ranking.
