Bellarmine still ranked in Division II top five

The new calendar year brings a new team to the top of the NABC/Division II men's basketball rankings, as Findlay takes over the top spot after previously top-ranked Bellarmine took a loss to St. Catharine College in its first game back from the holiday break.

The Oilers narrowly took the top spot from West Liberty as they got five of the eight first place votes to the three that West Liberty received. Findlay won its only contest since the last poll was released to improve to 11-0 on the season.

West Liberty is followed by undefeated Augusta State in the rankings, with Bellarmine falling to No. 4 this week and Fort Hays State checking in at No. 5. Another unbeaten squad, Hillsdale, is ranked sixth this week, followed by Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana – giving the Great Lakes Valley Conference three teams among the top eight. Incarnate Word, who is 11-0 on the year, is ranked ninth and Cal State-Dominguez Hills rounds out the top 10.

The second 10 begins with Alabama-Huntsville, who fell seven spots after dropping a game last week to Southern Arkansas. The Chargers are followed this week by Minnesota State, South Carolina Aiken, Lincoln Memorial and Grand Valley State. This week's 16th-ranked team is Christian Brothers, who knocked off last week's No. 9 team, Montevallo, followed by Central Washington, Central Oklahoma, Montevallo and Indiana (Pa.).

The final five teams in the poll this week

Two teams from the Lone Star Conference, Midwestern State and Central Oklahoma, head up the final five teams in the final rankings for the 2010 calendar year. Christian Brothers makes its first appearance in the poll this season at No. 23, with the 24th spot being shared by Eckerd and Bentley, which has won eight consecutive games after losing twice to open the season.
