Manny Harper was the winning quarterback on Saturday in the St. Patrick 5th & 6th grade Class AA Toy Bowl, and his brother Larry wasn't about to pass up his opportunity to collect a Toy Bowl championship and complete the Celtic sweep on Sunday against Notre Dame Academy at Trinity High School.

So with the St. Patrick 7th & 8th grade team down 6-0 at halftime, Larry Harper rose to the occasion and tossed a pair of second-half touchdowns to lead the Celts to a 16-6 win over NDA

The Saints were the aggressor to start the game and moved down the field with a long drive that gave Notre Dame a 1st & goal on the St. Patrick 5-yard line, but NDA coughed up the ball and the Celtics’ Gavin Laffoon recovered to thwart the SPS offensive attack.

Notre Dame Academy got another shot with 4:57 to go until halftime when the Saints' Jase Brutscher appeared to return an interception for a touchdown, but NDA was called for a block in the back penalty and the touchdown was taken off the board. The Saints did keep the ball and scored 34 seconds later on an 11-yard TD pass from Jared French to Jake Ryan.

French's pass was thrown into quadruple coverage and tipped by the St. Patrick defenders, but WR Ryan managed to keep his concentration and haul in the score at the goal line for a 6-0 NDA lead. The two-point kick was missed.

After a 6-0 NDA lead at halftime, Harper found Alex Hulse for a 19-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone to tie the game in the third quarter. Ian Kania’s kick was good and put the Celtics ahead 8-6.

Then, with 5:27 to go in the game, St. Patrick Harp hit Hulse again, this time for gain of 12 yards to pick up a big first down on 4th & 7. This would lead to Harper's second touchdown pass - a strike to Kania with about three and a half minute remaining to put St. Patrick ahead 14-6. Kania finished off the play with his second two-point kick of the game, extending the Celtic lead to ten points with 3:22 left in the game.

At the 4th quarter's 1:56 mark, St. Patrick’s Mark Blincoe chased NDA QB French out of bounds after French broke several tackles and attempted to cut up field for a long gain. The play forced a 3rd & 11 for the Saints and Notre Dame would never have another true look at the end zone.
