Seniors will play in All-Star Game on June 10

A pair of Catholic high school basketball seniors from Mercy and Sacred Heart Academies will be teaming up in June, as Jaguars senior Juliann Miller and Valkyries senior Maddie Peabody were named to the 2011 Kentucky Girls All-Star Team.

The team, which is a roster of 12 girls, will take on the Indiana All-Star Team in the annual All-Star Game on June 10 at Bellarmine University.

Miller, who will wear jersey No. 8 on the Kentucky team, averaged 13 points and 2.1 assists per game during this past season, as the gritty forward led the Jags to the Seventh Region championship game. Miller will attend the University of Evansville in Indiana next year.

Peabody, who will wear jersey No. 9 in the game, led SHA to a 23-6 record in 2010-11, including a district championship and berth into the Seventh Region Tournament. She averaged 10.7 points 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 rebounds during her final season with the Valkyries. The consistent point guard will attend Lafayette College in Easton, PA next year.

The Kentucky game is a fundraiser for the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation. Game tickets are available for purchase at www.kyallstars.net or by calling the Lions Eye Foundation at  (502) 583-0564. The game also has a fan page on Facebook.
