Knights defeat St. Andrew behind no-hitter

Going into Sunday's CSAA softball championship game, St. Michael Grade School had one blemish on its season record: a 3-0 loss to St. Andrew earlier in the year.

But with a title on the line, St. Michael righted the ship, got a no-hitter performance from Sabrina Fussenegger, and defeated St. Andrew 13-0 at St. Rita to capture the 7th & 8th grade girls softball championship.

Fussenegger also threw a perfect game during the city tournament and was vital to the Knights' overall success. To reach the finals, St. Michael defeated St. Bernard (4-0) and St. Stephen Martyr (4-3) before getting its revenge on a St. Andrew team that had best St. Michael early in the regular season.

On Sunday, the Knights got two runs in the first, six runs in the 3rd, and five runs in the 4th inning to secure the victory. St. Michael received clutch hitting from Amber Foukes, Cassidy Janes, Morgan French and Abi Duncan in the victory.

St. Michael finished the season with a 10-1 record.
