Attention runners of all levels, beginners to marathoners:

The physical therapists of LOC’s Sports Rehab Center are offering a free 15 minute session to anyone interested in discussing their running technique as well as a brief observation and analysis. This is perfect for those training or getting ready to train for the upcoming races, including Derby festivities such as the Triple Crown, in order to get off to the right start.  Your session is also a great opportunity to determine and address whether or not further analysis and/or treatment is needed.  If not, this is still a chance for you to get some quick tips and advice for your running regimen, which can help to prevent injuries.

Common Ailments: Aside from the normal wear and tear that comes with a training program, there are many common injuries associated with running.  Plantar fasciitis and shin splints are conditions commonly experienced by avid runners.  In addition to these is "knee pain" which commonly includes patellofemoral pain and iliotibial band syndrome.  Runners may also complain of low back pain, sacroiliac joint pain, and hip or groin pain.  In most cases these complaints can be attributed to overuse.  A physical therapist can be utilized to evaluate footwear, alignment, and muscle imbalances.

Details:

This is a one-time session offer limited to 15 minutes. If you or the therapist feels that you may need further evaluation, instruction, and/or treatment, we can advise you in the next appropriate steps if interested.

The sessions will be offered every Tuesday for the rest of January, February and March between the times of 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm. If these times are not convenient for you, other times are available upon request.

To set up your free session, call the Sports Rehab Center at:  502-897-1790, and the receptionist will set up a time for you to come in.
