St. Xavier won its second straight championship last month. The Tigers defeated Paul Lawrence Dunbar 1-0 to claim their 14th state title overall and eighth state title since 2000.

Other teams made noise around the state too. The Trinity Shamrocks spend most of the season ranked No.2 in the state, the Rocks lost to St. Xavier 2-0 in the seventh region championship game. Trinity finished the season with a 20-2-1 record. Their two losses came at the hands of St. X and Collins High School.

A heartbreaking loss to Butler ended DeSales season in the first round of the district tournament. The two squads couldn’t break a 1-1 tie in regulation or after playing two overtimes. The game proceeded to a shootout and Butler won 3-2 to knock the Colts out of the state playoffs.
