Assumption Track Team Sets State Record

Rockets well represented at New Balance indoor meet

Assumption High School’s indoor track team finished 3rd in the Championship Division Girls 4 x 1 mile relay, 3rd in the Emerging Elite Division Girls 4 x 800m relay, and 14th in the Emerging Elite Girls 4 x 800m relay at the New Balance Indoor Track National Championship over the weekend.

The event was held at New York City's 168th Street Armory. It was the first collective national indoor track championship meet since 1997.

Rocket runners Bailey Davis, Caroline McCaslin, Emily Bean and Katherine Receveur finished 3rd in the Championship Division Girls 4 x 1 mile relay with a time of  20:54.90, which is a school record performance and the fastest time ever for a Kentucky girls team in that event at an Indoor Track meet.

This 3rd place finish allowed this group of girls to win an All-American award for their top 6 finish making them the first girls in the history of the Assumption Track program to earn All-American status in either indoor or outdoor track.

Melanie Strothman

  • 3rd place Emerging Elite 4 x 800m relay

Receveur, Strothman, Vokoun and McCaslin placed 3rd in the Emerging Elite Division Girls 4 x 800m relay at the New Balance Indoor Track National Championship with a time of 9:27.40, which is a school record performance and the fastest time in that event for a Kentucky girls High School team in an Indoor Track meet.     

Davis, Elizabeth Lohr, Bean and Olivia Reibel placed 14th in the Emerging Elite Division Girls 4 x 800m relay, running the second fastest time in the State this year for that event.
