State record-holder in the 1,600 earns Mr. Track title

Holy Cross’ Jacob Thomson, who shattered the state record in the 1,600 meters this year at the Class A state meet, was honored as Mr. Track by the Kentucky Track & Cross Country Coaches Association.

The stand-out junior runner won three events at the state meet, the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter races. Thomson also won the Class A State Cross Country championship last fall, and finished runner-up in that race as a sophomore. In addition, he was named the Boys Class A Athlete of the Year

Assumption sophomore middle-distance runner Katherine Receveur was named the Girls Class 3A Athlete of the Year. She won the 800 meter run at the Class 3A State Track & Field meet and helped set a record in the 4 x 800 meter relay with teammates Amanda Vokun, Melanie Strothman and Caroline McCaslin. Receveur finished fourth last fall at the Class 3A State Cross Country meet.
