SHMS Wins CSAA Field Hockey Championship

Champs allow just one goal all season

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 16, 2012) – The Sacred Heart Model School 7th/8th grade field hockey team won the Catholic School Athletic Association(CSAA) City Championship on July 12, beating Holy Trinity 4-0. Savannah Elpers was named Most Valuable Player. Lauren Szwarc scored two goals and Katie Esselman and Christina Moretti each scored for SHMS. Mary Charles Leasure was in goal for the semi-final and final game. Lilly Faulkner, Clare Osbourne and Sydney Dunaway also were in goal throughout the season. There were no shots on goal in either the finals or the semi-finals due to the exceptional defense played by Ellie Crecelius, Clare Doyle, Louise Allison and Kennedy Malcolm.

SHMS had just one goal scored against the team during the season, while the Bears scored 35. SHMS gave up just six shots on goal the entire season.

The team is coached by Malcolm Cutting.
