Day 1 in London: sight-seeing, rain and internet connections

Sorry for the hiatus my fellow Kentucky followers. The Internet here decides to not want to pick up an ole' 502 number from the States, I guess.

On the other hand, the hotel we are in is absolutely to die for! We are right in the heart of the city, in Westminster about a mile from Buckingham Palace. I can't wait to get a morning run in so I can sightsee at the crack of dawn.

As I am sitting in the lobby chugging the last of my 'illy' coffee, I am eager to get outside, hop on the tube, and make my way to the pool for the prelims of today’s swimming competition! It is nearly impossible to find tickets to any events here other than the ones your child/family member is competing in, so we got lucky with this session and a few others.

I will be sending some snapshots on my view at the pool and some insider reports on any word from USA fans from previous sessions. Also I will let you guys know how the environment is, all the feelings, smells, sights, and sounds here shortly—stay tuned!

We haven't seen Clark yet as the village is far from where we are all staying, but I have spoken with him and he is really focused and excited. Ice-bath prepping and enjoying his Olympic Village experience to the fullest.

As for you London lovers out there in the ‘Ville—it’s such a quaint-big city. The Burckle and Sykes clan walked around in the rain quite a bit last night before we knocked ourselves out for the night, and it was everything I expected. Our cousins will be here tomorrow which will add to and continue our hilarious and fun family vacation yet again!
