From the LIT to an archery team, the Rocks enjoyed a successful week

By Philip Truman, ECHO Editor in Chief, Trinity High School

Basketball: Trinity became first team to win back-to-back LIT titles in more than a decade, and the Rocks have won three of the last four tournament titles as they defeated Ballard 53-52 on Saturday. Trinity senior James Quick finished the LIT championship game with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals and was named the L.J. "Butch" Charmoli MVP of the tournament. Teammates Trey Ivory and Craig Owens were also named to the All-Tournament team.

The team (16-4) defeated Christian Academy Tuesday night with a final score of 48-40.  Ivory and Miles Rice scored 11 points, while Owens contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds. The Rocks will be tested again this Friday night at 7:30 pm as they host Waggener High School.

Wrestling: The wrestling team is having their Senior Night at a dual meet against Fern Creek on Wednesday. This final home match begins at 5:45.

Bowling:  The Rocks ended last week with a disappointing defeat in the City Tournament at King Pin lanes. The bowlers lost to runner-up Jeffersontown after a victorious round against Bullitt East. On Thursday, the bowlers enter the regional tournament at Fern Valley Strike and Spare Lanes at 5 pm.

Powerlifting:  A strong team prepares for competition.  Senior team member John Fawbush said, " We had a lot of seniors graduate, but we have people that will be stepping up this year to fill those spots such as Pacifique Hirwa, Noah Scannell, Tad Voss  and Adam King.  We also have a solid group returning including myself, Hunter Kaufman, Mason Sullivan, Michael Hanlein, Ian Cox and Andrew Reeves. It's a different-looking team, but we still expect a state championship and a trip to nationals in Oklahoma City in April."

Miscellaneous: Along with a newly formed KHSAA fishing team, an archery team is in the works. The St. Matthews Rugby Club is holding an after school meeting this Friday for all current, new and prospective players.
