McAllister scores hat trick in Knights win over Hendrix

The Bellarmine University field hockey team walloped Hendrix College 14-1 this afternoon in a neutral site, NCAA Division II game played at Lindenwood Univeristy's Hunter Stadium.

Eight different Knights registered goals with Rachael McAllister collecting a hat trick with three scores while Rachael WalzNatalie Perry and Alex Ojeda all had two goals. Also reaching the cage for Bellarmine were Brittany RaqueAlexis Van WallaghenCarrie WalkerAnna O'Toole, and Kathryn Schneidtmiller.

As the score indicates, the game was dominated by Bellarmine as the Knights outshot their opponents 48-4 and held a 16-2 advantage in penalty corners.

The 13-goal differential was the most lopsided victory for the Knights since Bellarmine defeated Trine 18-0 two seasons ago. 

Bellarmine ran out to a comfortable 4-1 halftime advantage, then overwhelmed the Warriors 10-0 in the second half when Bellarmine held a 27-1 shot advantage.

Alex Moro and Megan Martiny each played a half in goal with Moro getting credit for the win.  Hendrix goalie Gabryele Pochron tallied 21 saves in a losing effort.

The victory moves the Knights to an even 6-6 on the season while Hendrix remains winless at 0-10.

Then Knights will remain in St. Charles to take on Lindenwood on Sunday at 1 p.m. (noon CDT).
