Joe Federspiel will be in LCSN's second HOF class

The Louisville Catholic Sports Network will put out a series of articles introducing each of the inductees for the 2013 Hall of Fame Class. The class will be inducted on Nov. 14, 2013, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts and you can purchase tickets here.

Joe Federspiel was one of the greatest football players to ever come out of DeSales High School and was selected to the Colts' All-Time 50-year team. Federspiel played linebacker for coach John Ray at the University of Kentucky from 1969-71 and was named All-Southeastern Conference and a second-team All-American by The Associated Press.

In 1972, Federspiel was drafted in the fourth round by the Saints and played eight seasons for New Orleans. He started 98 games and had 10 fumble recoveries and five interceptions in 130 games. He played for the Baltimore Colts in 1981 before finishing his pro career with the Chicago Blitz of the United States Football League in 1983.

After retiring as a player, Federspiel officiated Southeastern Conference football games as an umpire. His outstanding career with the Saints culminated with his induction into the Saints Hall of Fame in 1993.
