Florida International picks up talented quarterback

Trinity quarterback Travis Wright signed a letter of intent Wednesday  to continue his football career at Florida International University.

FIU went 3-9 last season but won two of its final three games.

Wright  led the Shamrocks to a 41-2 record and three consecutive state championships as a starter.

The quarterback threw for 3,529 yards, 39 touchdowns and completed 64 percent of his passes during his senior season. He ran for 213 yards and three scores.

He is the 18th player from the 2011 undefeated national championship team to sign with a Division I football program, and there may be more to come.
