Valkyries come in seventh out of 11 teams

The Mercy Academy and Sacred Heart Academy cheerleading squads competed in the KHSAA Cheerleading Competition Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Mercy scored 267.4 points and came in second place in the Class 1A Girls at Large competition. Elizabethtown won the event with 275.9.

In the All-Girl Super Large event, the Jaguars placed third with 264.4 points. Nicholas County won with 269.1 and Pike County Central recorded 264.7 points to come in second.

Sacred Heart placed seventh out of 11 teams in the Class 2A Division with 242.9 points in the All-Girls Large event. Paul Lawrence Dunbar won with 279.3.
