Lacrosse: The varsity team opened its season with a 15-0 shutout at home against Montgomery Bell from Nashville. It was an explosive start for the Rocks, who saw no problems putting the ball on cage. Next, the Rocks saw another victory, 8-3, in a match against Indianapolis Cathedral. Extending their record to 3-0, the Rocks claimed a 16-3 victory over Christian Academy at home.

The Rocks don’t play again until March 20 against Collegiate. Junior midfielder Jessee Lynch spoke about the first three games: “Both the offensive and defensive sides were clicking. We just need to work on being ready for each game and come out full speed at the beginning.”

Powerlifting: The varsity Rocks had a tough weekend as they fell to North Bullitt in the State Championship Meet. The JV team won the Junior Varsity State Championship. Varsity winners were John Zehnder at 123 pounds and Lance Kaufman at 275 pounds. Zehnder, a senior, set a state record in the bench press category of his weight class with a lift of 205 pounds. Also placing for Trinity were Shane Melcher, Brady Dewitt, Brett Quesenberry, Michael Hanlein, Nolyn Steffey and Mitchell Theiss. JV lifters Adam King and Michael Smigel placed first. Chris Tipton, Max Martin, Zach Berger, Garrett Morris, Kyle Hutto, Ben Voss, David Dirr, Pacman Hirwa, and Jacob Collins also placed for the Rocks.

Volleyball: The Rocks opened their season with a tournament at Cathedral High School in Indiana. Facing Hebron in the final, Trinity defeated last year’s Indiana state runner-up.

The JV team came out strong in the final against St. Xavier and swept it in straight sets to go undefeated in the tournament. The volleyball team plays again March. 19 against rival St. X.

Intramural volleyball: Intramural volleyball got under way. Teams starting out with victories were Means-Simmons, Shellenberg, Gustafson, Mason, Wilson and Winrich.

Intramural ping pong:  Trinity students competed in the Louisville High School Table Tennis Tournament held by Metro Parks at Beechmont Community Center. The Rocks claimed first and third places. Congratulations to Jack Allen, Carson Charest, Jon Goldenberg, Elton Joseph, Ismail Qadir and Sean Graham on the performance.

Intramural bowling: The Shamrocks Spring League finished its season. The final results were: the overall winning team, with 14 wins and only 4 losses, was Team 2, consisting of freshmen Ken Lucas, Elijah Donahue, Spencer Bilyeu and Jesse Hammond.

The High-Game Actual trophy was won by junior Conor Minogue, who bowled a 232. The High-Series Actual trophy was taken by Bilyeu, who bowled a 373 for two games. Junior Ara Kazemi took the High-Game with Handicap award by bowling a 249, and senior Adam Houk grabbed the High-Series with Handicap trophy by rolling a 410 for two games.

Lucas received the Most Improved Bowler award by increasing his average by 12 pins. The No-Tap Tournament was won by Minogue, who rolled a 543 for two games. The second-place finisher in the No-Tap competition was junior Connor King, who bowled a 430 for two games.

These young men won certificates for free games at Ten Pin Lanes. Dr. Tom Zehnder of Trinity High School and Ralph and Brandon of Ten Pin Lanes would like to thank all who participated in intramural bowling this spring, and they invite all bowlers back for more fun and action for the 2013 fall season, which will start in September.
