The writer is a member of the Billy Reed Sports Journalism Academy, sponsored by Catholic Sports Network. Each correspondent will write a weekly notes column about his or her school, in addition to submitting photos, game stories, and features as requested.

Track: On March 2, the Tigers took second place in the Mason-Dixon Games at Broadbent Arena. The 4 x 800 relay team of Nick Reader, Max Mudd, Connor Sheryak and Thomas Cave got the Tigers off to a great start by winning the event. Later, Chris Streigel won the 3,000, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Chris Amstutz, Derrick Muench, Rob Singler and Thomas Cave took the final event of the evening. The team also hosted the Tiger Relays March 16. Leading the way was the winning 4 x 400 relay team of Sheryak, Mudd, Striegel and Reader.  This Saturday the team will compete in the Harry Greschel Invitational at Christian Academy of Louisville.

Rugby: The Tigers took on the Cincinnati St. X Bombers on Sunday 10 in a tripleheader. Both the A-Side and the B-Side were victorious, defeating the Bearcats 19-12 in the first game and 20-5 in the second. The Tigers then traveled to Tennessee this past weekend as the A side soundly defeated Sycamore High School 59-7 while the B side lost a close battle with Ravenwood 15-10.  Their next game is Thursday, when they take on Trinity at Brother Thomas Moore Stadium at 6 p.m.

Lacrosse: St. X's first game of the season resulted in a 14–4 win over Christian Academy of Louisville on March 7. Junior Nick King led the way with five goals, while seniors Brad Schickel and Zayne Smith each scored two. On March 13 the team won its second game 10-5 over visiting Ballard.  Coming into the game, the Bruins were ranked No. 1 in the state, according to Laxpower.com. Schickel scored four goals, and Roppel, Smith and King each scored two. Finally, the Tigers demolished DeSmet High School from St. Louis 13-2 last Friday. Next up is Lexington Catholic on Wednesday before the Tigers travel to Chicago for a showdown with Hinsdale High School on Saturday.

Baseball: The Tigers are off to a 3-0 start just five days into their season. The season play began  March 16, with a doubleheader against Covington Catholic and Bishop Brossart. In the first game, they defeated Covington Catholic in a 10-9 thriller. The team then avenged last year’s playoff loss to Bishop Brossart with a 6-0 vistory. The Tigers then faced Christian Academy in their home opener on Monday and emerged with a dramatic, walk-off victory. Connor Underwood got the victory after taking over in the fifth inning and pitching a shutout from there. This week, the Tigers will face Franklin County on Wednesday before traveling to Lexington for the Catholic Tourney this weekend.

Tennis:  The Tigers open the season in a big way this week, first taking on archrival Trinity on Tuesday at Top Gun Tennis Center. Then they will compete in the annual Deco National High School Team Championships which pit 16 teams from around the country in a tournament in Louisville on Friday and Saturday.

Volleyball: St. X began its season by traveling to the Cathedral Tournament in Indiana on March 9. There, it went 2-2 with victories over Carmel and Wapahani high schools. It begins facing Kentucky competition this week when it takes on Trinity on Tuesday and a tri-match with Trinity and Carmel on Saturday.
