Former Knight to play professional lacrosse

Former Bellarmine Knight defenseman Matt Silvia will play professional lacrosse for the Ohio Machine this season. The Machine plays in Columbus, Ohio, as a member of Major League Lacrosse. Last season the Machine joined the league as an expansion team and went 2-12.

Silvia appeared in 49 games and started 25 when he played for the Knights from 2009-12. Bellarmine went 17-25 during Silvia’s tenure. Before playing for the Knights, Silvia attended Olentangy High School in Westerville, Ohio.

During his senior year, Silvia started in all 12 games, picked up 12 groundballs and forced four turnovers. The former Knight scooped up 52 groundballs and caused 17 turnovers during his Bellarmine career.
