Four Bellarmine University track athletes qualified for this week's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Colorado State University at Pueblo.  Competition will be held May 23-25 at the Meta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

Bellarmine athletes making the field for the national championships include:  Robert Sandlin, Jr.., men's 1500 meters; Kaysee O'Bannon, women's 100 meters; Meghan Jones, women's 400 meters; and Angela Musk, women's 1500 meters.

Four is the most individual competitors that Bellarmine has sent to the outdoor track and field national finals.  Last year Musk and Jones were the only Bellarmine athletes making the elite championship field. Musk finished 10th in last year's event, and Jones missed qualifying for the finals.

Sandlin ranks highest on the performance list of any of the Bellarmine athletes heading into the national championships, ranking eighth in the country with a 1500 meters time of 3:48.42.  Musk is 10th on the women's side with a 4:29.44. Jones and O'Bannon rank 14th and 19th respectively on their performance lists. Jones's best 400 meter time is 55.19 seconds, and O'Bannon clocked her best time in the 100 at 11.83 seconds.

All four Bellarmine athletes will compete within an hour of one another in Thursday's preliminaries. Three events will run back to back to back with the women's 1500 scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m. followed by the men's 1500 and the women' 400 meters. The women's 100 meters will run at 8:10 p.m.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday with potential Bellarmine events scheduled for 7:35 p.m. (women's 1500), 7:45 p.m. (men's 1500), 8:15 p.m. (women's 400), and 8:38 p.m. (women's 100).
