For the second consecutive year the Kentucky Track & Cross Country Coaches Association has selected record-breaking Holy Cross distance runner Jacob Thomson as the recipient of the Kentucky Mr. Track award. North Hardin High School’s Kianna Gray was named Kentucky Miss Track.

Thomson was also named the boys' Class A Athlete of the Year by the KTCCCA.

“It means a lot to be honored with this award two years in a row,” Thomson said. “It just goes to show that all the hard work has paid off. Putting in the hard work made my times improve and this award is a reflection of that.”

The Holy Cross graduate will run cross country and track at North Carolina State University in the fall. He will take with him 11 individual state titles as well as a team title that Holy Cross won in 2011, his sophomore year.

“I’ve been very fortunate and have had a lot of things go my way in cross country and track,” Thomson said. “I’m grateful for all of that and these honors mean a lot to me. Running has opened a lot of connections for me and provided some great opportunities to learn and grow and to lead as well.”
