Trio of Knights earn Academic All-District honors

Bellarmine University cross country and track & field athletes Robert Sandlin, Jr., Angela Musk and Emily Frith have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 Teams for their outstanding performance in the classroom and on the track. All three are now nominees for recognition as Academic All-Americans.

A Frankfort native, Sandlin was fourth in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 3:56.41. The exercise science major also ws named to the All-Midwest Regional Team in cross country with a 13th-place finish.

Musk completed a dominating year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, earning GLVC Cross Country and Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors. She earned All-America honors by finishing 12th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, then followed it up with a eighth-place finish in the 1,500 at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships, also being named an All-American. The psychology and art double major was named the GLVC's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.

After missing the early parts of the cross country season with an injury, Frith came back strong to finish 31st while being named as an All-American. The Crab Orchard, Ky., native was named the GLVC Track Athlete of the Week on April 24 after setting a program record in the 5,000 with a time of 17:08.74.
