After a dominating performance at Campbellsville, Hannah Spaulding (Bethlehem High School) led the St. Catharine swim team into Union College to take on a powerful Bulldog squad.

Spaulding led things off for the Patriots in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a 2:09.27 in the final round, just off her 2:06 mark in the seeding heat. Spaulding’s performance was good enough to snag a third-place finish and marked a 16-second improvement over her 2:25 mark at Campbellsville.

In the 1,000 freestyle Martha Raley (Lebanon, Ky.) took home a second-place finish as she defeated a Union swimmer by 1:20 in the seeding heat and won the final by 20 seconds. Raley continued her success in the 500 freestyle, finishing fifth in 6:42.10, just outside of fourth place. In the 200 breastroke, Spaulding grabbed another third-place finish when she posted a 2:41.14, staying 20 seconds ahead of fourth-place and just four seconds behind the second-place finisher.

With Spaulding just outside of making the cut times for the national tournament, the Patriots will hit the water hard and look to make a final push as they finish out their season.
