FISHING

The 2014 bass fishing regional qualifying tournament was held during spring break on Herrington Lake. With 66 boats entered and only 14 spots eligible for the state tournament field at Kentucky Lake, the Shamrocks' fishing team, under head coach Mike Chancellor, qualified three teams.

The three teams qualifying for state competition tied the highest number from any school in the state. Fishing in second place overall in the region was the team of Garrett Morris  and Will O’Rourke with a total weight of 7 pounds, 11ounces. This included the big fish of the tournament, caught by O’Rourke, tipping the scales at 5 pounds, 13 ounces. Chancellor captained their boat.

The team of Trevor Hulsey and Clay Evans finished in fifth place (5-12) with Ed Evans the boat captain. Finishing in 12th place (2-12) was the team of Tanner Nettleship and Kyle Muennich.  Lance Nettleship provided his time and boat as the adult captain. The state tournament at Kentucky Lake is a two-day event held April 25-26. The tournament will launch and weigh in at the Kentucky Dam Village marina.
