St. Xavier’s Coleman Cox and Nick Quinones advanced to the semifinals of the doubles tournament with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lexington Catholic’s Ryan Crump and Matthew Ko. The duo, seeded No. 3 in the doubles draw, will face the No. 1 seed from McCracken County in Grant Hammons and Mat Townsen Saturday morning.

St. X teammates Matt Graft and Nick Waldeck, the No. 2 doubles seed, also made the semifinals after defeating Kiefer Mays and Noah Tapp of Henry Clay 6-3, 6-3.

Mustafa Gardezi and Wesley Tolsdorf of Trinity advanced to the semifinals and will play Graft and Waldeck in the semis Saturday morning. Gardezi and Tolsdorf defeated Daniel Cobourn and Jackson Hull of Manual 6-2, 6-4.

Brandon Lancaster and Drew Singerman of St. X are the only two LCSN players left in the singles bracket. Lancaster, the No. 2 seed, will face Richmond Model’s Gus Benson in the semis Saturday after defeating South Oldham’s Jordan Pitt 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Singerman has a tough task ahead of him Saturday as he will face Covington Catholic’s Austin Hussey in the semis. Hussey defeated Lancaster in the individual title a year ago. Singerman defeated Atherton’s Daniel Lineberry 6-1, 6-0 to get to the semis.

In girls singles play, Sacred Heart senior Caroline Walter earned three wins in her bracket before bowing out in the quarterfinals to No. 3 seed Michelle McKamey, a freshman from McCracken County, in straight sets.
