The St. Xavier tennis team's quest for a sixth straight state title began Thursday by winning the Sixth Region title. The Tigers won with 18 points, and Manual placed second with nine.

Brandon Lancaster of St. X won the individual regional title by defeating teammate Drew Singerman 6-3, 6-4 in the title match. Lancaster was the state runner-up last year as a sophomore.

The doubles final was also an all St. X affair. Nick Waldeck and Matt Graft rallied from an 8-2 deficit in a super-breaker to take down teammates Coleman Cox and Nick Quinones 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. In a super-breaker, the team that scores 10 points first wins.
