St. X knocks off Cincy St. X

St. Xavier defeated Cincinnati St. Xavier 162-153 in a swim meet at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium Saturday.

Coming into the meet, Cincy St. X was ranked as the No. 1 team in the country. But the Tigers were able to unseat the Bombers thanks to winning all three relays.

JD Mundt, Keefer Barnum, Heyward Harrison and Matthew McDermott won the 200-yard medley relay.

Matt Steiden, Trent Schulten, McDermott and Mundt won the 200 freestyle relay.

Aldan Johnston, Clayton Forde, Trey Hubbuch and Harrison won the 400 free relay.  

Michael Miller (diving), Forde (500 free), Barnum (100 breaststroke), Steiden (100 butterfly) and Harrison (200 IM) added wins for the Tigers in individual events.

Matt Slabe (200 free), Grant House (100 free) and James Wray (100 backstroke) won events for the Bombers.

The Tigers swim team has won 26 straight state titles.
