Name: Maddie Sweeney

Age: 18

Current school: Assumption High School

Current Sports playing: Softball, Pink and White Football

Parish/grade school attended: St. Bernard

High school GPA: 3.9

Colleges considering or attending: Campbellsville University

1. What is your proudest athletic moment? Signing to play softball at Campbellsville

2. What is your ideal meal/snack before a game? I am known by my team to show up with a sweet tea or a Starbucks drink before a game. This year we’re all making the transition from cheez-its to goldfish for our team snack!

3. If you were trying out for American Idol, what would be your "go to" song? Anything off the Nellyville CD.

4. Which athlete do you look up to on a college/professional level? Why? I really look up to Anthony Davis because I am a huge UK fan and I really admire how he puts his team before himself and plays for them.

5. What is your favorite movie quote? “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” –Talladega Nights

6. How does your faith impact your approach to sports? My relationship with God keeps me humble and motivated. I know that I can always count on him no matter how I play.

7. What is your favorite cartoon character? Spongebob

8. All-time favorite board game? Sorry

9. Droid, iPhone, or Blackberry? Favorite app? iPhone, favorite app- Twitter or Snapchat.

10. What is your favorite local restaurant? Definitely Raising Canes Chicken.

11. What is your favorite reality TV show? Jersey Shore or Party Down South

12. What is your greatest fear? My greatest fear is being physically chased by someone and drowning (which is ironic because I’m a life guard)

13. What is your best quality/characteristic? I’m very approachable, I can talk to and get a laugh out of most anyone

14. Favorite junk/comfort food? Anything chocolate, Rice Krispies cereal

15. What is your favorite hour of the day? Why? 10-11 p.m. is usually bedtime or 12-1 p.m. because this is my lunch time during the weekJ

16. What is your nickname and how did you get it? The team calls me “Mom” because we’re like a huge family and they’re all my kids! I guess I would consider myself a motherly figure because I tend to take care of everyone first and make sure everything is in order.

17. Where is your favorite place to volunteer/provide community service? My favorite place to volunteer is Peg’s Therapeutic Ponies in Mt. Washington. I did my junior service here and I loved it. Peg’s is a family owned horse farm that not only competes in many competitions, but provides therapy for special needs adults. I would clean stalls, groom the horses, lead them around, and help with the therapy sessions. I love Peg’s and what they do for disabled adults!

18. What is one hidden talent that you possess? I’m actually a pretty good dancer. I was a cheerleader all through grade school and loved it! (Olivia Helm, my teammate now, was my flyer and I never dropped her once)

19. If time machines were real, and you could choose just one - to travel forward or backward - which would you select and why? I would travel back to the 80’s when my parents grew up to see Dad’s mullet and Mom’s huge hair. Also because they were not totally dependent on technology as we are today, times seemed simpler then!

20. If you could pick one person, dead or alive, and ask them just one question that they had to answer honestly, who would you pick and what would you ask? Devin Booker, “Will you go to prom with me?” LOL.
