Central Catholic football team cruised past St. Patrick 36-18 in an 8-A matchup Sunday afternoon at St. Bernard.

On the first drive of the game, St. Patrick’s Nick Malubay rushed for two yards, but was brought down by Central Catholic’s Trent Schneidtmiller.

Both the Celtics and the Saints turned the ball over on downs in the first two drives of the games.

On the second drive of the game for Central Catholic, the Saints running back Roman White rushed for 37 yards to put Central Catholic up 6-0, the PAT was not good.

Each team would again turn it over on downs before Central Catholic scored their second touchdown with a 7-yard pass  by Sam Thompson to Lance Weiter putting St. Patrick in a 12-0 hole.

The Celtics troubles continued. Central Catholic scored their third touchdown of the game as time expired in the first half with a 2- yard pass by Thompson to Weiter. This time the PAT by Nathan Disney was good to give the Saints a 20-0 lead going into the half.

Central Catholic scored again in the third quarter with a 1-yard QB sneak by Thompson Disney hitting a PAT giving the Saints a 28-0 lead.

St. Patrick was finally able to get points on the scoreboard with a touchdown of their own on a 5-yard by Jack Marsh, but the PAT was no good cutting the Central Catholic lead to 28-6.

The Saints extended their lead to 36-6 with Thomas Brian’s 6-yard touchdown run and Disney’s PAT.

The Celtics seemed to gain some momentum finding their way to the goal line in the second half as they scored another touchdown with a two-yard run by Ben Marks giving the Saints a 36-12 lead.

St. Patrick scored again before the end of the game with a three-yard touchdown pass by Marks to Josh Heitkemper. Central Catholic was able to block the PAT to end the game.
