St. Xavier’s wrestling team is ranked No. 2 in the KentuckyWrestling.com pre-season poll and is looking to win their first state title in five years.

The Tigers will be led by senior Konner Kraeszig who is ranked No. 1 in the 152-pound weight class and finished second in the 113 weight class last year as a junior.

Last year was bittersweet year as St. X sent four grapplers to the state title match in their respective weight classes but came up empty handed each time and finished second as a team.

Union County was the team that beat the Tigers, winning the team state title for a second straight year and third in four years.

St. X is ranked second as a team in this year’s pre-season poll – and is behind Union County who is seeking a third straight championship.

Trinity is the only other LCSN team in the pre-season rankings and is No. 24 after finishing 38th as a team at state last year.
