HC making one last final push to replace track
Holy Cross is in the process of trying to redo their track surface. It’s called Missy’s Blessing Track Project and it’s something that is near and dear to former track star Kendall Hammerstrom.
Hammerstrom lost his mother in 2010 due to lung cancer and in memory of his mother Missy Hammerstrom, Kendall wants to give back to the Holy Cross community.
Kendall graduated from Holy Cross in 2012 and now teaches P.E. and Health at the school. He is also the head coach of the girls’ track and field team.
Missy Hammerstrom was known for her love of giving back as she helped start the nationally known Blessings in a Backpack.
With Holy Cross needing new asphalt, Hammerstrom has agreed to match donations up to $25,000 to have the school’s asphalt track resurfaced with rubber.
The track currently has 28 cracks that need to be filled. The cost for a new track is roughly $120,000. Athletic director Jody Thornsberry says the campaign is going well but Holy Cross wants to make one last push to make this a reality.
To make a donation, you can click here to do it online or you can mail a check (information listed below). Make checks payable to Holy Cross High School.
