Brooke Forde, the record-setting Sacred Heart Valkyries swimmer, was named the Dr. Rudy J. Ellis Sports Medicine Kentucky High School Female Athlete of the Year. Geordan Blanton, an outstanding baseball player at Johnson Central, was named the Male Athlete of the Year.

The Stanford-bound Forde won four consecutive state championships as a member of the Sacred Heart team, a powerhouse squad that has won five straight titles. She was named the most outstanding meet competitor as well as the Midway University KHSAA female student-athlete of the year at the past year’s state swim meet.

At this year’s state meet Forde broke the 200 freestyle record with a time of 1:45.03 as well as the 500 freestyle record clocking a 4:39.87. She also is a member of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay record-holding SHA teams.

At Stanford, Forde will swim with Olympic champions Katie Ladecky and Simone Manuel as well as former Sacred Heart teammate Leah Stevens.
