The Louisville Catholic Sports Network All-Catholic Teams recognize student-athletes who played at the top level during the regular and postseasons within their sport. The players are selected based on nominations and feedback from local coaches and the LCSN staff that covered the teams during the 2017 season.

Behind volleyball, softball is probably overall as a whole is the Catholic schools second best sport. Holy Cross and Mercy spent most of the season in the top 25 and were considered two of the four best teams in the Sixth Region.

Mercy finished the season 30-10, won the 24th District title, the Sixth Region title, and finished in fifth place at the state tournament.

Holy Cross finished 24-13 and won their third straight All “A” Classic Statewide Tournament championship.

Assumption, a team with only one senior, showed flashes of greatness at times with their prolific offense and finished the season with a 12-20 record and advanced to the Seventh Region semifinals.

Sacred Heart bounced back after only winning nine games last season and went 15-15, won the 27th District title, and lost in the first round of the Seventh Region Tournament.

Presentation went 18-17 and lost in the first round of the Seventh Region Tournament.

Here are the players that were selected to this year’s team. Behind the Player of the Year award, the teams are divided into First and Second Teams and listed in alphabetical order.

LCSN Player of the Year: Lexi Ray (Mercy) – Ray, a junior, earned the Player of the Year award for her performance throughout the season and at the state tournament.
