The volleyball season kicks off Monday night. LCSN Editor Conor Revell decided to break down a list of must see games involving LCSN schools. Note: These games only involve Kentucky schools.

North Oldham at Holy Cross, Tuesday, Aug. 15, 6:30 p.m. – This is a chance to see how good Holy Cross can be this season. North Oldham has won three straight Eighth Region titles and a win for the Cougars would be a sign of a potentially great season.

Mercy at Providence (Ind.), Wednesday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. – The Jaguars travel to Southern Indiana to take on one of the toughest teams in the state. The Pioneers have won two of the last three Class A state titles.

Henry Clay at Presentation, Friday, Aug. 18, 7:30 p.m. – It might be opening night for football but the Pres get the chance to show what they’re made of by playing the state’s No. 3 team.

Sacred Heart at Mercy, Sunday, Aug. 20, 3 p.m. – Sacred Heart is the defending state champion, Mercy made it to the state semifinals last year. What more could you want? And it’s a rivalry game. Good luck finding a seat.

The All “A” Classic Sixth Region Tournament at Beth Haven, Aug. 22 & 23 – Holy Cross and Presentation will likely meet in the title game with a trip to the small school state tournament on the line. Pres has won the last two state titles.

Holy Cross at Butler, Thursday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m. – Often times these two Dixie Highway schools clash for a spot in the Sixth Region championship game. Expect these two teams to be the second and third best teams in the Sixth Region.

Notre Dame at Sacred Heart, Thursday, Aug. 24, 7:30 p.m. – Notre Dame is usually the best team in the Ninth Region and it’s a good test to see where the young Sacred Heart club stacks up as they aim to win a second straight state title.

Assumption at Sacred Heart, Wednesday, Aug. 30, 7 p.m. – For one, it’s a rivalry game and No. 2 is these are the top two teams in the Seventh Region. Who is going to be the better team this season? We will find out a lot in this game.

Mercy at Notre Dame, Thursday, Aug. 31, 7 p.m. – Mercy goes up against a strong Ninth Region opponent. A team that they knocked out of the state tournament last year. The Jaguars will have a chance to show that they’re one of the state’s toughest teams.

Assumption at Mercy, Sep. 5, 7:30 p.m. – Assumption and Mercy are my two preseason favorites. These two teams will square off in an epic early season battle. We will get a better idea of who might be the favorite come state championship two.

Presentation at Manual, Sep. 6, 7 p.m. – These two 25th District rivals play for the No. 1 seed in their district. Pres has won the district the last two years but Manual is a much improved squad.

LVIT at OVVC, Sep. 8-9 – Some of the state’s and nations top teams play in the Louisville Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center.

Providence (Ind.) at Holy Cross, Monday, Sep. 18, 7 p.m. – Holy Cross will play one of the small school state powers from Indiana. Providence has won two of the last three Indiana small school state titles.

Holy Cross at Presentation, Thursday, Sep. 21, 7 p.m. – Round two of the rivalry. This time instead of a best of three, it’s a best of five, and all that’s on the line is bragging rights. The place will be packed as always with this rivalry.

Sacred Heart at Assumption, Saturday, Sep. 22, 6 p.m. – Round two of this prestigious rivalry. And it’s the last time these two teams will see each other before the Seventh Region Tournament.

Assumption at Henry Clay, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m. –The Rockets and Henry Clay are two of the best teams in the state. They’ll play in Lexington on this night and then perhaps again at the end of the month at the state tournament with some serious hardware on the line.

North Oldham at Mercy, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m. – This is perhaps another state tournament preview game. North Oldham has won three straight Eighth Region titles while Mercy has won 19 straight Sixth Region titles.

Mercy at Assumption, Thursday, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. – It’s one last go-around for these two state powerhouses. We will see how much both of these teams have improved since the start of the season.

Henry Clay at Mercy, Monday, Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. – Henry Clay and Mercy play just before the season ends. Both of these two teams could very see each other at the state tournament, perhaps in the state title game. After all, Henry Clay ended Mercy’s season last year.

Mercy at Sacred Heart, Wednesday, Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m. – It’s round two for these rivals as well and perhaps a preview of a state tournament game.

North Oldham at Sacred Heart, Oct. 12 – North Oldham has won the last three Eighth Region title and again this could be a preview of a state tournament. Sacred Heart knocked North Oldham out of the state tournament in the state semifinals.
