* Assumption’s volleyball team won the Durango Fall Classic this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. The Rockets defeated Torry Pines (Calif.) 19-25, 25-13, 26-24, Mater Dei (Calif.) 26-24, 23-25, 25-19, and Redondo Union 25-16, 25-9 to win the tournament.

* Sacred Heart also played in the tournament and qualified for the Competition Division and defeated Queen Creek (Ariz.) 21-25, 25-14, 26-24, Notre Dame S.O. (Calif.) 25-14, 25-19, and Beckman (Calif.) 15-25, 25-18, 25-13 to win that bracket.

* Trinity basketball star David Johnson committed to the University of Louisville Friday night. Johnson averaged 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season.

* Sacred Heart’s soccer team won Lexington Catholic’s prestigious Lady Knights Challenge Cup Saturday night beating Manual 1-0 in the title game. The Valkyries defeated Highlands (3-0) in the semifinals and Tates Creek (3-1) in the quarterfinals.

* Assumption’s field hockey team defeated Sacred Heart 4-0 in the Huskie Invitational (Ill.) to win the title game Saturday.
