Holy Cross repeats as state champs

Holy Cross won their second-straight Class A Cross Country State title Saturday morning at Lexington’s Kentucky Horse Park.

The Cougars beat out second-place Lexington Christian 62-105. Owensboro Catholic was in third-place with 136 points.

Keeton Thornsberry led the way winning his third straight individual state title and clocked a 15:46.39, beating out teammate Caleb Bolus (16:09.31) who came in second.

D.K. Schnieders clocked a 16:39.11 and came in sixth place.

Josh Meiman (26th), Kaden Huiet (29th), and Austin Akrdige (30th) also ran for Holy Cross.

GIRLS’

Presentation’s cross country came in fourth in the Class A state meet with 208 points. Bishop Brossart won with 107 points while Lexington Christian (185) came in second and Walton Verona (188) placed third.

Olivia Brown led the Toppers with a 21st place finish.

Noelia Radke (39th), Alex Barthmaier (54th), Lily Norton (67th), Danielle Ryan (79th), and Alissa Browning (159th) also ran for Pres.

Alexandria Gambrell (196th) ran for Holy Cross as individual.
