The Bellarmine Dance Team competed at the National Dance Alliance's National Championship last week in Daytona Beach, Florida finishing third in the "Team Performance Division II" competition.

Three of the dancers are Assumption alums – Kaylee Carruthers, Holly Kirwan, and Emma Rhodes – Carruthers is a senior while Kirwan and Rhodes are freshman.

Bellarmine breezed into the finals with a solid performance in the preliminaries and nearly duplicated that effort in the finals with a score of 8.748 to finish third. This year's squad entered the competition without a wealth of experience as eight of the team's 12 members are freshmen.

Even with the lack of experience, Bellarmine turned in the third-best finish in school history. The 2015 squad won the national championship while last year's team finished as national runners-up.
