Pendleton tabbed as new Assumption basketball coach

Stacy Pendleton, who has coached the Bears at the Brown School the past two seasons, where his team won the 7th region All A Tournament and he was named 7th Region Coach of the Year in 2018, has been named the head basketball Coach at Assumption High School.

Pendleton is best known for his time at Manual where he coached from 2004 to 2013. In nine seasons at the helm, Pendleton’s record was 240-58, and he led his team to the state title in 2012. His teams four Seventh Region titles and were LIT champions in 2011 and 2012.

“I have watched Coach Pendleton throughout his career, Assumption athletic director Angela Passafiume said. “He develops great thinkers, creates confidence in players and is a master at getting them to believe in themselves and their abilities.

“Hiring Stacy is a privilege and an honor and we are beyond excited to welcome him into the Assumption Community. He will restore the winning tradition of Assumption Basketball and return our program to the level of play our girls deserve and will be proud of.”

His individual coaching accolades include Kentucky State Coach of the year by the Associated Press (2012), Lexington Herald (2012), NFHS (2012) and Regional Coach of the Year by the Courier Journal (2006, 2011, 2012, 2018) and the KABC (2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2018).

Pendleton was chosen as the KY/IN All Star Coach (2012) and the KY/OH All Star Coach (2010) beating Indiana and Ohio those years.

The Rockets had several and down seasons with four new head coaches in the past eight years including an 11-20 record this past season under the guidance of Amy Siegel who stepped down after four seasons.
