The boys’ soccer season kicks off in a mere 26 days. Here’s a look at five games LCSN Managing Editor Conor Revell is looking forward to covering.

Aug. 30th, St. Xavier at Collegiate, 5 p.m.

It’s a district game, the two teams have won the past two Seventh Region titles, and they will be two of the top three teams in the Seventh Region. The winner of this game draws the No. 1-seed for the postseason in October.

Aug. 30th, Holy Cross at DeSales, 7 p.m.

The soccer version of the Southside Showdown. These two rivals will battle it out as most went to grade with each other. It has been three years since Holy Cross pulled off their massive upset during their special 2015 season, but the Colts have won the last two, however, it’s a rivalry game and anything can happen.

Sep. 5th, Collegiate at Trinity, 5:15 p.m.

The two powerhouses didn’t play last year. However, in 2016, Collegiate stunned Trinity in the Seventh Region semifinals ending their reign of three straight regional titles. While in the grand scheme of things this game means nothing, a bit of bragging rights will be on the line as a lot of these guys play club soccer with each other.

Sep. 11th, Iroquois at DeSales, 7 p.m.

The last three times these two teams played, the game went into Penalty Kicks with DeSales having won the last two. While it’s not the most glamourous of matchups, it’s a game that matter when it comes to the grueling 22nd District. Lose and you might have to play the No. 1-seed in the district semifinals.

Sep. 26th, Trinity at St. Xavier, 8 p.m.

With no doubt, this is the biggest game of the regular season. The two squads are consistently at the top of the Seventh Region. Not to mention, this game will be played during Pride Week as the two fan bases will come out in droves.
