SHA volleyball recognized for academic excellence

Sacred Heart volleyball is known for its excellence on the court, but it’s also showing its talent inside the classroom.

The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association announced their 2018 KVCA Team Academic Award and the Valkyries were only one of 12 teams recognized.

In order to qualify, teams had to maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale throughout the school year.

Brown was the only other Louisville school area to receive the honor.

Sacred Heart’s volleyball team spent most of last season ranked in the top three and posted a 26-14 record.

Emily Arnold, Anna Burke, Kristen Clemons, Olivia Fogo, Lauren Hoffman, Isabella Hughes, Isabella Hughes, Anna Lococo, Sam Merkley, Carissa Reyes, Cat Schmid, Cierra Scott, Skylar Singleton, Lexi Uhrhan, Amber Vance, Abigail Westenhofer, and Heather Wethington played for the Valkyries last season.
