Trinity football star Stephon Herron Jr. has decommitted from Michigan and switched his commitment to Stanford University.

“I am decommitting from the University of Michigan and committing to Stanford University,” Herron Jr. said in a tweet Monday. “Coach Harbaugh, Coach Mattison, Coach Brown, and the entire Michigan coaching staff and crew, I am forever grateful for your support and the oppurtunity afforded me.”

Herron is one of the top defensive players in the state and recorded 43.5  tackles, 15 were for a loss totaling 57 yards, and nine sacks.

The defensive lineman helped the Rocks go 15-0 for a second straight season culminating with their second consecutive Class 6-A state title.

Stanford went 9-5 last season, 7-2 in the Pac 12, making it to the conference championship game, and lost to Texas Christian University in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

The Cardinal are a perennial west coast power having won 15 conference titles and two national championships.
