Trinity head track and field coach Scott Holzknecht has been named Kentucky Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the US Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.

Holzknecht led the Shamrocks to their first Class 3-A title since 2006, their fourth in school history.

Under his guidance, Trinity was able to cap off a historic day winning six events en-route to an easy victory over second-place St. Xavier.

Holzknecht also coached Trevor Warren to state title in the 1,600 and the 3,200. Ryan Boyle, Jacob Burnam, Robbie Springfield, and the 4x800 relay team also won title.

The track and field coach also coached the cross country team to a second-place finish this past fall.

It was Holzknecht fourth season as head coach.
