The KHSAA golf season started this past weekend throughout the state marking the official start of competition for the 2018-19 school-year.

Sacred Heart has shown that they will be one of the best teams in the state again this season and has won two straight state titles and six in the past seasons under the guidance of Leslie Bender.

However, Bender resigned at the end of last season, and Mackenzie Moir has taken over as head coach.

The Valkyries had a solid showing this past weekend in their first two tournaments winning the Taylor County Classic and placing second in the Shelby County Lady Rocket Classic.

Sacred Heart shot a 317 to place second in the Shelby County Lady Rocket Classic Sunday,, one stroke behind Lexington Christian.

The Valkyries came back Sunday with a victory in the Taylor County Classic shooting a 329 beating out South Warren in a tiebreaker.

Edlin delivered a 73 and was the individual runner-up while Martin shot an 83, Sutherland delivered an 86, Warner fired an 87, and Elliott had an 89.
