St. X and Trinity golf have successful first weekend

The KHSAA golf season started Friday after and the St. Xavier and Trinity golf teams both opened the season playing at the Five Star General Invitational at Picadome Golf Course in Lexington Friday and at the Taylor County Big Daddy Cardinal Classic at Campbellsville Country Club Saturday.

The Shamrocks came in third-place as team with a 300 at the Five Star General Invitational,, three shots behind second-place Ballard, and 13 shots behind first-place Taylor County.

The Tigers came in fourth with a 308.

J.M. Butler (72, EVEN) led Trinity with a fourth-place finish, Peyton Bonny (74) placed ninth, Davis Money and Charlie Morgan  (76) both finished 13th, and Jacob Connors (78) came in 24th.

Benton Williams (72) led St. X with a fourth-place finish, Jackson Finney (75) delivered an 11th place finish, Robbie Bender (78) placed 24th, and Bryce Beard (83) came in 42nd place.

The Tigers came in second at the Big Daddy Cardinal Classic with a 291, three shots behind Taylor County, who won the event. The Rocks came in third with a 303.

Andrew Sullivan led St. X with a 71. George Schmid shot a 72, Benton Williams fired a 73, Patrick Brooks shot a 75, and Brooks Korthage had a 77.

J.M. Butler led Trinity with a 74. Peyton Bonny fired a 75, Davis Money had a 76, Charlie Morgan delivered a 78, and Jacob Connors had an 82.
